Serial Simulations investigate the idea of the “diptych,’ both as a medium and as a concept.
I’m researching notions of seriality and repetitive movements. It is the physical act of mimesis as a process of imitation and copy.
This particular series examines the spatialization of time, body, memory and colour theory. The temporal aspect of these works, investigate the various distinctions between conceptual time and real time.
In this work,
Claire Zakiewicz was blindfolded, whereby movement and colour decisions were navigated by musician Cornelius Byrd who assigned specific coloured inks, at intervals of his choosing. Interestingly, without sight, the artist, repeatedly returned to the point of origin.
